ONLINE SURVEY (20 MINUTES)

What is the purpose of this study?  

 

This study aims to identify the factors that influence antibiotic-related decision-making in critically unwell patients.

 

Am I eligible to get involved?  

 

Yes, if you are an ICU, microbiologists/ID clinician or a clinical medical student involved in the care of critically unwell patients.

 

What does it involve?  

 

In this survey, you will respond to 4 clinical simulated vignettes with a decision. For each decision, you will provide your reasoning using both free text and category selection (from a list) of statements that best match your rationale. At the end of the survey, you will also be asked to provide some demographic information, to partake in a risk inclination test and be asked to join a panel involved in the formation of best-practice guidelines.

Participation is voluntary and responses anonymous. 

 

 

Why should I get involved?

 

If you chose to participate in this study, you will have the opportunity to get involved in research that aims to positively influence antibiotic stewardship whilst simultaneously gaining insight into the influences on your own decision-making. We hope that working through these authentic cases in a safe and controlled environment would be enjoyable. You have the opportunity to be entered into a raffle for a chance ti win one of nine-prizes (e-vouchers) worth between £50-75Finally, you will have the option to join our 'Why Stop?' consortium, in which we hope that we can provide you recognition in any published work as a contributing author.
